3 Ways to Protect Your Hair for Pageant Appearances

By Artcye Dozier

As a beauty queen, you are a public figure. Which means you will attend an extensive amount of events in the community. This requires you to always look your best, which includes your hair. I have selected a few tips to protect your hair while attending appearances!

1) Extensions

Extensions are an easy way to take less tension off your hair. There are so many ways to install extensions (that’s another blog later) and they protect your natural hair. You can curl, blow dry and flatiron extensions as much as you like with out risking damage to you natural hair.

2) Updo

Hair pulled up is always a classic look that can accent your crown or tiara. When your hair is up it’s safe from split end damage. And best of all, you can mingle without the worry of your hair losing its style!

3) Moisturizing

Moisturizing your hair before and after each appearance will ensure your hair has continued health! Before an appearance, shampoo your hair with a moisturizing shampoo. Follow that with a moisturizing conditioner. After your appearance, shampoo your hair again, except this time use a clarifying shampoo to remove all products. Finally, apply a deep moisturizing conditioner and let it sit for 10 to 20 minutes in your hair. Rinse and then style as normal!

I hope these small tips help ensure the health of your hair while being such a big part of our community!
