WASHINGTON, D.C. — Nationally respected business executive, leadership strategist, author, professor, and two-time U.S. Presidential appointee, Cassius F. Among his many accomplishments, Butts served as Regional Administrator for the U.S. Small Business Administration under President Barack Obama, becoming the first African American to hold the position for Region IV. During his tenure, the agency achieved five consecutive record-breaking years and facilitated more than $30 billion in small business lending across eight southern states. He has also held leadership roles under multiple presidential administrations and gubernatorial appointments, including Presidential Management Fellow during the George W. Bush administration. He was also the Chairman of the Fort McPherson Local Redevelopment Authority, where he helped oversee one of the most significant economic development projects in Georgia involving Tyler Perry Studios.
